| Post subject: | Fuel price protest |
Received this email today i am not sure if it will work but i am going to stop buying my fuel from shell and bp FUEL PRICE PROTEST The price of oil is as low as it has been for a while, But the oil companies have simply jacked their prices up and the government will not do anything as they rake in extra VAT for every increase. See what you think and pass it on if you agree with it We are hitting 114.9 a litre in some areas now, soon we will be faced with paying 1.50 a litre. Philip Hollsworth offered this good idea: This makes MUCH MORE SENSE than the 'don't buy petrol on a certain day campaign that was going around last April or May! The oil companies just laughed at that because they knew we wouldn't continue to hurt ourselves by refusing to buy petrol. It was more of an inconvenience to us than it was a problem for them. BUT,whoever thought of this idea, has come up with a plan that can really work. Please read it and join in! Now that the oil companies and the OPEC nations have conditioned us to think that the cost of a litre is CHEAP, we need to take aggressive action to teach them that BUYERS control the market place not sellers. With the price of petrol going up more each day, we consumers need to take action. The only way we are going to see the price of petrol come down is if we hit someone in the pocket by not purchasing their Petrol! And we can do that WITHOUT hurting ourselves. Here's the idea: For the rest of this year DON'T PURCHASE ANY petrol FROM the two biggest oil companies (which now are one), ESSO and BP. If they are not selling any petrol, they will be inclined to reduce their prices. If they reduce their prices, the other companies will have to follow suit. But to have an impact we need to reach literally millions of Esso and BP petrol buyers. It's really simple to do!! Now, don't wimp out at this point... keep reading and I'll explain how simple it is to reach millions of people!! I am sending this note to a lot of people. If each of you send it to at least ten more (30 x 10 = 300)... and those 300 send it to at least ten more (300 x 10 = 3,000) ... and so on, by the time the message reaches the sixth generation of people, we will have reached over THREE MILLION consumers! If those three million get excited and pass this on to ten friends each, then 30 million people will have been contacted! If it goes one level further, you guessed it... ... THREE HUNDRED MILLION PEOPLE!!! Again, all You have to do is send this to 10 people. That's all.(and not buy at ESSO/BP) How long would all that take? If each of us sends this email out to ten more people within one day of receipt, all 300 MILLION people could conceivably be contacted within the next 8days!!! Acting together we can make a difference . If this makes sense to you, please pass this message on. PLEASE HOLD OUT UNTIL THEY LOWER THEIR PRICES TO THE 90p a LITRE RANGE It's easy to make this happen. Just forward this email, and BUY your petrol at Shell, Asda,Tesco, Sainsburys, Morrisons Jet etc. BOYCOTT ESSO and BP. |

Sorry it simply won't work. Firstly the other filling stations that would need to be used could not possibly cope with the increase in demand so they would all run out quicker than they could be re-filled thus making petrol scarce and as such the price would go up. Secondly where do you think these filling stations would get their extra fuel from? They would have to go to the people who have the excess, yes you guessed it Esso and BP. People need to put more energy into making their businesses work better and less time on stupid protests that do absolutly nothing. |

Dont forget its bar-steward day, well that one from number 11. He will be asking how much have we left and to give generously
How many went out and bought a new car under the scrappage scheme only to find that in a very short while there new pride and joy will have to sit on there driveway as they cannot afford to fill it

Never mind their extra fuel where do you think the majority of their fuel already comes from? |

Guess what? It ain't worked. It never will work again until they blockade the depots again. That's not going to happen because the farmer who organised it got paid to keep low and not do it again. |

The problem is that there is very little refining capacity in the UK esso and bp obtain much of their fuel from their main competitors anyway it is one big gentlemans club the retail divisions of esso and bp buy their fuel from the same places as Morrisons, tescos etc. The only way to bring prices down is to stop using the stuff and create an excess of supply over demand and that ain't gonna happen we love using our cars too much |

Why is it, that the fuel companies are always blamed for the cost of a litre of fuel? when it is clearly the government that is making it so dear. A break down of a litre of fuel is, based on £1.00 a litre. refinery cost 31.75p forcourt cost/profit 5p fuel duty 48.35p VAT 14.9p total £1.00p What i would like to know though, is why diesel is dearer than petrol in this country, when it is cheaper any where else in europe? |

It used to be cheaper and the government taxed it less as it was more economical (nowt to do with Emissions in those days)...then because of being cheaper the numbers of Diesel vehicles crept up and up....Because of this the Petro Chemical companies started blaming lack of UK refining capacity in order to put their price up, at the same time the Goverment started taxing it more to make up on their shortfall from lost income on the reduced use of petrol. Basically the Diesel user got hit from both sides. Yet still their is a Lack of refining plants in the UK or so they say...but if thats the case and we buy it in from europe..then why dont we now have extra refinerys...and why also as being part of the EU are the Petrol Companys charging us more for the same Diesel??? theyve had 15 years to up its production here!!! |
