Taxi driver claimed £9,000 in benefits Published Date: 29 March 2010 A man illegally claimed almost £9,000 in benefits while working as a taxi driver. Paul Hawes, 46, of Ferguson Road, Marton, admitted two offences of failing to notify a change in circumstances. He was sentenced to do 150 hours unpaid work for the community by Blackpool magistrates. Hawes illegally claimed £8,634 in housing and council tax benefits between October 2007 and July last year. Make no mistake he will have to pay that back as well, maybe a charge on any property he has. But it will be the county court that deals with that. Panic not.
