At the Reg Com meeting on 31st the committee refused permission for company logos to be displayed on ECPH cars.

The argument was made that 68% of other UK local authorities allow such signage, indeed actively encourage it, supported by key women's safety groups.

But the committee decided to ignore such pleas from those at the sharp end of women's safety and refuse the application.

Except for Cllr Joanna Mowatt who, presumably out of her usual winter hibernation period, pointed to the Scottish Government's best Practice guide which recommends such signage.

No surprise that once again Cllr Keir has steered the council and his supplicant committee to what on the face of it is his decision.

Yet curiously, no surprise to me of course, Cllr Keir was reported on page 5 of the Edinburgh Evening News pointing to the very problems he used to refuse the application in committee - BEFORE the decision had been taken.

Let's not kid ourselves here. The decision was NOT taken in committee. It was taken by der Fuehrer Inch, it was simply lip-synched by stepford councillor Colin Keir.

Isn't decision making in City of Edinburgh Council really made in now smokless rooms, in little covens, wee trouser raised, hand shaking cliques, then passed down to the elected munchkins to pretend democracy exists?

Quality!!!!!

That's some "domocracy" we live in.

BTW I wonder if those who return to Britain in body bags realised the real quality of the democracy they're dying to "defend"?

It must take a very special council such as the City of edinburghs to Inspire a Billion pound Tram system that nobody seemed to want...then after 3 years of tram construction inactivity come out and say that its the" tram system that nobody wanted that now everyone wants"

These must be a very special breed of people indeed...I Doff my hat to them!!
