Cop these latest words of wisdom from the "scribe" Travis Bairn

IN REPORTING the jailing of a drug-fuelled sex attacker who was pretending to be a "taxi driver", you quote Lady Smith saying: "What she needed was a licensed taxi to uplift her and take her safely back to the hostel where she was staying. What she did not need was the nightmare experience which followed" (News, April 20).

This case proves that as far back as February 2009 the council was well aware of the difficulty of hailing a licensed taxi at peak times and the vulnerable position this puts the public in.

Yet since then, the council has refused 92 taxi licences to those who want to provide the improved service at these times the public deserves.

The council is even defending its refusal to grant licences in court, despite the real concerns this and other cases raise about public safety because of its artificial restriction.

How can any local authority possibly claim to be discharging its public duty to ensure public safety unless and until it has done everything it can?

Jim Taylor, Edinburgh, Edinburgh

The above is a woeful letter to the een yesterday !
The usual crap is spouted about it being cec fault, even quoting Lady Smith for lack of taxis caused this girl to be raped.
It's no surprise that him & ecph are using female victims of crime to further their own personal agenda's at any costs ! !

Yet the scumbag author was fueled up at 2.30am when all these victims need a taxi most ! !

The feckin idiot was states "he cares about his customers" obviously didn't last night Lips sealed Lips sealed Lips sealed

Well well Trav me lad. Feeling a tad moist in your vadge then

Being called a scumbag by you has to be the pinnacle

And why should you be concerned about when I did or did not finish? You seem to ascribe to me a standard which the rest of the trade is not prepared to adhere to. In housing estates all over the city cabbies have parked up long before I finished. Or is it only owners who are allowed to finish without your permission

And, having racked up a 3 spot, isn't it in the trade's interest to leave some work for the moaning minnies, like Duggie, who seem incapable of finding work?      Don't want to be too greedy, do I

Trav, you've lost, you just refuse to recognise it. When the council has manoeuvred itself free from legal acton from those on the IPL and deluded owners who think they actually have a plate value, it's gonna do what the vast majority of councils already have - open up the trade and destroy the illusion of plate ownership.

Bye bye vested interest. Hello real public service

Go straight to taxi auction sales, do not pass go, o not pretend to be a businessman, do not collect 50 grand!

Finally, that you call me as despicable and contemptible, a scumbag, means everything to me. Its a badge of recognition from a drowning man

When you grab your next straw to clutch, see if it's one you can suck air through

I was referring to jimmy boys posts, the fact that he will say nothing bad about the glasgow mob.
And to the fact that he is happy to try to upset everyone BUT them.
Keep up jock.

I don't give a toss about anyone from Glasgow, whom you reckon are a mob (How do you know this?).

I'm not against crooks being weeded out.

But it should be through the from door of the Law Courts and not the back door of licensing.

Because abusing licensing in this way, allows it to be used to dig me out, and you for that matter.

Only by protecting the integrity of the process can we ensure fair play from a control authority which exercises its discretion however it sees fit rather than reasonably.

Remember here, when the process stiffs you unreasonably your only recourse is through the courts. Can YOU afford to buy the justice you deserve? Don't you hink the council and the cops know this? Isn't this a wholly disproportionate power they have?

And, isn't their track record so poor that we should ALL fear them?

Who wants to live in a society like this?

Jimmy boy,

Most people can figure out by themselves that drug dealers and gangsters are bad.
They dont need a court to decide for them.
How close are these guys connected to your friends at ecph, pretty close judging by the way you feel you need to stick up for them.

Well, you WANTED them as your pals.
And now you better keep your mouth shut !

Frank, you need to ask Ali T, about his little suspension for non-payment of a parking fine, or should I say, daring to question the authority of the RC?

And you want them to have more power

Gary,

I will take your word for that, and agree that it is out of order.

But, jimmys constant defending of gangsters, drug dealers and criminals is also out of order.

jimmy will side with ANYONE who dislikes the council or police, no matter how despicable they are!

I'm not siding with any gangsters, criminals or whatever.

My simple point, and I know you know this, is that you are not a gangster or a criminal until the court decides that you are.

That's called justice.

It's not up to politician's, cops and councils to decide who is a criminal. That's called a police state.

Not difficult really, except for the hard of thinking of course

Oh jimmy.

Of course someone is a gangster or drug dealer prior to it being proved in court.
I think you will find a drug dealer is someone who buys and sells drugs.
Whether they have been convicted or not is niether here nor there.

The way you think, I am clearly not a taxi driver, because it has not been proved in court!

Last time I checked, driving a taxi wasn't considered criminal or grounds to refuse a booking office licence.

I never said it was,
All I was saying is that for something to be a fact it does not need to be proved in court.

It may yet have to be if these people appeal....................
