Gang attack on taxi driver

A gang of eight attacked a taxi driver in Halifax.

The group forced him to stop in Illingworth Road by blocking his way, then reached through his windows and took his car keys.

When he got out to get the keys back, he was headbutted.

He managed to drive away and call police.

One of the culprits is described as white, aged between 19 and 21, 6ft tall, chubby, and "wild looking" with scars on his cheeks, short black hair and wearing a black jacket.

The rest were aged between 16 and 20 and wearing tracksuits.

Detectives at Calderdale CID say they are treating the assault at 3am on Sunday as a top priority and want witnesses to call 0845 6060606.
