Post subject:  Police set sights on seven taxi firms with alleged gangland
SEVEN taxi businesses are facing closure due to alleged gangland links.
Police have spent months compiling dossiers on Partick Private Hire, Online Private Hire, Tower & Fort Cars, Fairfield Cars, 50/50 Cabs, Great Western Taxis and Greg Campbell.
On Tuesday, police will ask Glasgow councillors to block their applications for booking office permits.
It's the most extensive use yet of new licensing laws. Previously, only cars and drivers needed permits, so criminals could run firms.
In some cases, police will argue that while named applicants are clean, the firms would be run for the benefit of criminals.
One application is thought to be linked to George Mullen, 54, a former co-accused of gangster Jamie "Iceman" Stevenson.
Mullen has had taxi licences refused in Glasgow and South Lanarkshire due to links with gangster Peter Smith, 41, who was jailed for three years after being caught with £400,000 of drugs cash in 2006. Mullen was with him at the time.

So whats new....even the police are run for the benefit of criminals...the Government!!!


You wouldn't mind if the cops were squeaky clean. But there are many documented cases where they've broken the Law and been allowed to continue as cops.

The cops are being allowed to demand a higher standard than they have. This is a Police state in action.

And, because the investigate thmslves, we don't know what dirydeeds they are sweeping under the carpet.

It's tempting to allow them to do these things in the belief that they are weeding out criminals, which will benefit us all. But they are applying measures which, if unchallenged, will grant them the power to dig anyone out. We're now in the position where we are all having to touch forelocks to the cops.

I've said it before, I'll say it again. Before applying these rules, then the authorities should be forced to tell us all what a "fit and proper person is" and the quasi judicial process should be required to operate to clear standards, with standards, benchmarks and acknowledgement of precedent. It should also have an automatice right of appeal, fully funded through legal aid.

Notwithstanding this, if those being dug out here are indeed criminals and are operating the licences in a criminal way, then they should be brought before the Justiciary to determine this.

It's back to simpke truth that the complaints being made against them are not emanating from the public. They are coming from government and the cops. They may think they're cleaning the place up, what they're really doing is operating a fascist state using pretendy laws cobbled together.

We should all consider this and fear where this is heading.

I dont have connections with gangsters and drug dealers, so I have nothing to fear!

You seem to be worried about this though, jimmy.
Do you have some "connections" to own up to?

Frank I also have no connections with drug dealers or gangsters (exept goverment) but I do fear a police state! more so for my kids,And so should you!

Gangsters using children's nurseries to launder money, say police

GANGSTERS are running children's nurseries as fronts to launder money, police chiefs warned yesterday.
Detectives said they were investigating up to a dozen nurseries in the west of Scotland believed to be linked with gangsters.
Sources said they believed the businesses were laundering cash from drugs and extortion rackets.
They are thought to do this by creating "ghost children" - shown on their books to be in their care but who do not exist and whose fictitious parents pay in cash.
Senior cops said crimelords were trying to make the same inroads into childcare as they have done in security, private hire taxis and tanning salons.
One top cop said 12 nurseries in and around Glasgow had been infiltrated.
Another said gangsters had made moves on similar businesses in "every major Scottish urban centre".
Strathclyde Assistant Chief Constable George Hamilton said: "We believe the whole service industry is vulnerable to criminals trying to launder money, whether that is the security industry, taxis, car washes, tanning salons or children's day nurseries."
Mr Hamilton said nurseries offered lucrative opportunities for people with no criminal past associated with gangsters, such as wives and girlfriends, because of the nature of the industry.
Last month, Strathclyde Police and Scottish Crime and Drug Enforcement Agency officers raided a play centre and nursery in Motherwell under the Proceeds of Crime Act.
They also raided two houses in Lanarkshire linked to the nursery's boss, seizing financial and other documents.
