Not only is ECPH targetting our customers by ads, billboards and other media, they are now embracing new technology using bluetooth to target customers' fones at all the main taxi ranks and places of entertainment.

I can see it now. The door opens. The leg is raised to get in the taxi. A pause. Sorry mate, ECPH have just offered to take me home for 30% LESS.

It would appear that all of you alleged "businessmen" have allowed the cuckoo to stretch out in the nest and take it over.

Nice one.

And to think that all of you muppets want to restrict access for drivers to have unfettered access to the tools of their trade. When full access would have prevented theis devastation.

You must be having a laugh

You've got to stay one step ahead of the competition nowadays, if they are investing in technology to drum up trade fair play to them.

A guy who owns Club Taxis in Chesterfield does a promotion via Text message, when people phone up on their mobile the system saves the number enabling the company to send promotional Texts to customers.

That surely will make them popular.

The west end hotel send bluetooth messages as you pass the hotel if you have your blue tooth open.

It is VERY annoying, and it makes the hotel the last place I would want to frequent.

In anycase, there would be a lot of manpower involved if they wanted to cover more than one busy taxi rank at a time.

Frank, the taxi trade has been on the decline for at least 10 years. With the economic recession, no doubt going to get worse, the last thing we need is the competition directly targeting our work.

I think the game really will be over, for a lot of owners by the beginning of next year. Whatever happens it can't go on like this, I've never seen the streets so quiet, or the punters as miserable. The shi* has got to hit the fan somewhere along the line.

I agree with Frank. It is annoying to get these messages. I would stop them.

Second, the trade may well be in decline, and PH are diverting a lot of our work to them.

But as a streetcar | still see lots of potential for me to exercise my craft and make a living. But the imperative for me to do this is to have access to my own vehicle so that I can respond to demand.

I'd be quite happy sitting t home when its quiet, on the golf course or in the pub. But I need unfettered access to my own vehicle to be in the mix when the public are available.

It's long overdue for the council to butt out and let the market dictate the supply.

The alternative is a PH fleet 4 ti8mes what we have now, all doing the same job as us but with limited controls.

We want a quality and price controlled fleet, then the first port of call for customers has to be a black. The status quo is stopping this. The status quo is delivering an ever bigger competitive and uncontrollable threat.

How long before the baby consumes the parent?

Unfetted access will not allow you to be on the golf course when it's quiet and on the ranks when it's busy, you muppet. Look at the unfetted access of the PH trade and see what hours they are working
