| Post subject: | "Lies" emanating from Edinburgh's council |
It's reported that the appeal hearing dates for the refused applications that were heard in January have been set for ... wait for it ... NOVEMBER. Yup, that's right ... NOVEMER 18/19th. The excuse? The advocates in the case couldn't agree court time because of holidays etc. Does anyone doubt that Edinburgh's council officials are LIARS? The council's advocate can't make it, you appoint another counsel who can. Same with the appellant. There is no true or just reason why it would take 10 months to bring this hearing to court. Curiously two sisted cases HAVE been brought to court before then. The MacDonald and Kane sisted cases have been scheduled for a hearing on 24/25th JUNE. Isn't it curious that the same amount of time can be allocated for these two cases, using the same advocates who are having holiday and other arrangement problems preventing them trying January's appeals? Aren't there porkies being told here? BTW Cllr Keir is aware of Sunday's forthcoming story in the News of the World about Edinburgh's blackmarket in taxi licences, how licences are being refused by him and his council to prop up the blackmarket, how his actions have caused the artificial shortage of taxis and how sexual assaullts have resulted as a direct result of council policy. All attested to by Lady Smith whose opinion contained recognition at this highest level that a victim couldn't get the taxi she needed to take her home safely. Watch that space. Let's just see what spills out.

You really need to take a reality check, son. The court system is overloaded and yet you expect a few piddling taxi appeal cases to be prioritised? Get real! You say there is a black market in taxi licences despite knowing everything is legal and above board. The only LIAR is you. As for Lady Smith, she did say that a girl was looking for a taxi, she did NOT say or even infer that this meant there was any shortage of taxis here or anytwhere else for that matter. Just Lie after lie from Jim Taylor the MASTER deBATER Jim wants to be famous and he will succeed - he is renowned for being the laughing stock of Edinburgh! |

You seem worried Swannee, and I would be too if I were you. The council isn't wobbling any more. They are changing their policy position on restricting taxi numbers. The plug is about to be pulled. The appeal hearing won't even make it into court. The council is simply buying time to de-restrict. I also heard that the NOTW, reporters are jumping all over this, things are about to get bloody. . . I am told you can't find a Councillor that ever supported restricting taxi numbers, for love, nor money, apart from Cllr Keir of course, and he's all alone now. Give your driver, a good rental and he might stick with you rather than applying for his own plate.

Oh and just so you understand Swannee. Taxi Licence Plates are not for sale or transfer, de facto or de jure. Licence Plates are public property, or The Property of the City of Edinburgh Council. Licence Plates are not a commodity to be traded on the Black Market, nor do they have any intrinsic value. Get the picture?
Bye, bye 50K, nae luck.

![]() Bye, bye 50K, nae luck. ![]() Now let me see. Who was it who said it? Ah yes. Former council leader Donald Anderson no less. He of "Edinburgh's economy is burgeoning". This despite Jacobs being unable to come up with any demand increase for taxis. Yet Halcrow managed to "!find" a demand for 30 licences in the depths of the worst recession in living memory. Curious that eh? Ah, but back to cllr Anderson. What was it he said? Yup, "There is no intrinsic value in taxi licence plates". Swanee should be preceded with "You're up the ..."
Along with Edinburgh's taxi "businessmen"
BTW What Lady Smith said was that the sexual assault victim "needed" a taxi. An unfulfilled need because Cllr Keir refused licences. Now, what is Cllr Keir reported to say after being contacted by NotW? Oh yes, "I don't need this". I'm sure you don't Cllr, but then the lassie didn't need to be assaulted either. The council are LIARS swanney. You clearly don't have any idea of how the court system works. It doesn't take 10 months to hear an appeal. The timescale alone would be sufficient to bring an action against the Law Courts for incompetence and justify a public inquiry. You need a reality check swanney. |

Consider this. Us mere mortals do our best in life - whether we drive taxis, study law, or sit on council committees. Yes some may be better than others at what they do. Others may abuse their positions. On the whole however the majority are normal ,decent upright citizens going about their business to the best of their ability. Now consider Skull and Jasbar. They consider themselves above the law. They continually mock those who disagree with them. They freely lie about things, even perjure themselves on occasion. And now we have them bleating to a newspaper with more lies. What black market in plates is there? All that happens is that the company in whose plate is registered has a change of director(s). something that happen s quite openly and legally in every trade or profession. There is no transfer of plate, nor is there a value put on any plate. This pair know this full well, so why do they lie about it? Ok so Lady Smith said the girl needed a taxi. Surely she meant that as a contrast to the abhorrent fate she met? You are alone in seeing any inference of a lack of taxis. You are seeking to twist the truth for your own gains. As for Cllr Keir saying he didn't need this, I'm sure that, like the rest of us he is sick and tired of your constant tirade of lies and attempts to subvert normal procedures. |

As for Cllr Keir saying he didn't need this, I'm sure that, like the rest of us he is sick and tired of your constant tirade of lies and attempts to subvert normal procedures. What lies? You haven't even read the article yet, don't even know if an article WILL appear, yet you somehow KNOW its lies? The Act clearly states that licences are NOT transferable. yet some licences have been transferred from single to corporate operation? A deFacto transfer in any 5 year-olds book. Yes you may be right about Lady Smith. But what she identified was the girls need, which was unfulfilled - she couldn't get a taxi which is why she was tempted into her situation. And she had even less of a chance of hailing a taxi because they are restricted. Do you get this? In simple terms restriction means shortage. Shortage means customers have lss of a chance of hailing a taxi. Like this girl. And this compromised her safety more than it should have been. The council isn't wholly responsible for what happened to her, but it is significantly partly responsible. And that's what is wrong here. Cllr keir says he doesn't need this because he recognises his fault here and he suspects that publicity is coming his way. It's his neck on the chopping block and he knows it. It was his lead. Inch, the rest of the committee and the rest of the council are gonna take a step back and let Keir take the flak. But they are all culpable, as I've warned them in the past. They didn't blunder into this by some error or coincidence, they've known all along about all the circumstances which may be brought to bear here. I can't wait to see what happens Sunday. Get a copy of the paper. And enjoy

BTW What applied in Glasgow last week, and looks set to apply to Edinburgh this week, could well go national. There could well be not a single council prepared to persist with restriction after this. Could well be this story is growing arms an legs. And if it does it won't be because the Skull and Taylor are wrong. But that we have been right all along. Lets see eh?

Again with the non transferable nonsense plates are transferable, there is a section on the taxi license paperwork for change of manager of license. Is that not a transfer? |

And it's prising your £50K false plate value from out of your wallet. Quality eh?

To quote Andy Dufresne in Shawshank, "Are you being deliberately obtuse?" Manager/owner can't you work out the difference for yourself? And what part of licences are not trasnsferable as is stated in the Act, don't you understand?
