Last night, I watched Ph, filling their boots all over the town. And what's more, every cabby I spoke too though the same. Ph, look even busier now than before the recession.

Well done boys, if you want even more of our work, phone City Cabs on: 0131 228 1211 or Central Radio Taxis on: 0131 229 2468

I am sure the committees (feckwits) of both companies will bend over backwards to give their work away.

Oh and don't worry about their members, they don't have a fecking clue. What the feck is going on.

Yup, we've lost the first half. Sitting at the mood rank, when previously there was never any need to rank, there is an endless stream of private hire dropping off.

The only dropping off that many blacks to is to sleep.

The trade is becoming one which is only busy for a few hours Friday Sat nights into the wee small hours.

And what is our "reps" approach to this fact? Why, they only want to introduce a "party tariff at these peak times, make us more expensive.

All this will do is reinforce the publc's view that we are greedy bar stewards and drive then on to our up to 30% cheaper competition.

Aren't the lunatics running the asylum?

You make an interesting point.

When I was up your way three years ago the only PH I saw was the one I was driving. However when I was up your way last weekend I saw dozens and dozens of them. Most of them with punters in.

From what I saw it looks like the black cabs have the city centre sewn up, but I'm not too sure that applies to the outskirts/suburbs.

Only a snapshot of your fair city I agree, but defo a big change in three years. :?

The hacks are doughnutted around the City Centre while most of the work from the suburbs is picked up by satellite Ph companies. Ten years ago the hacks had the run of the City. You could work across different areas. Now you tend to take fares out of the City Centre and come back in empty. Except for punters coming in from Edinburgh Airport or Edinburgh Business Park the work from the suburbs is hardly worth talking about.

Plenty work in the outlying suburbs on busy night if your on a radio circuit

but skull and taylor won't bow to and be subordinite to someone telling them what job to take

myself and other radio working cabbies are happy to mop up this extra work that street cars can't cover

That's the way to do it. Let them sit on the ranks while you fill your bag with ££££££££££.

Denial is a funny thing Saf. In the last two nights, I've asked a good number of owners and drivers alike, if they thought that Ph appeared busier especially at the weekend than ever before.

One owner, even went as far to say “the game is fecked, and it's only a matter of time before we are overran by Ph”.

It amazes me how a few die-hard clowns that frequent fasties, and now on TDO, can't see the obvious.

Gary,im not denying the fact that phc are busier at the weekends but don't make out that every car had someone in it.
As i said,"did you not see any empty ones".
Drive along Corstorphine road during the week and they are hardly "filling their boots".
Phc,like the black cabs, are always slightly busier at the weekends have been and always will be.
Tell me any driver or owner that doesn't have the same view on how the "game"is.

Serial Myopia. Sleepwalking through life.

I've sat in this trade for 16 years watching PH grow from a few cars doing school runs to 1000 cars operating as pseudo taxis.

Where do you think all this work for this growth came from?

And you would know this, how exactly?

Isn't this just your wish, a reality you have constructed based on YOUR need alone?

I'm shattering your pathetic illusion of worth, you are worthless, and you hate me for telling you.

That's fine. I understand.

But we all really know that this trade can't begin to move on and medernise until the plate value and the false business illusion that comes with it is destroyed.

Tell us saf, when you're waxing lyrical by the pool on holiday, trying to convince everyone around you that you're a big man taxi owner with staff in tow, why don't you be more realistic?

If you want to show everyone how good a guy you are, why not just buy them a pint?

BTW Such simple advice comes free.
