Taxi driver found with more than 3,000 'extreme' child porn images is jailed

A taxi driver has been jailed after being caught with the worst kind of child porn ever seen by an experienced detective. John Evans, 40, was caught with more than 3,000 sickening pictures and films of girls as young as three years old being sexually abused.

Detective Constable Adrian Adamson, of Humberside Police's Public Protection Team, said the collection was the worst he had ever seen. Police and other agencies are usually able to categorise child porn on a scale of one to five, with five being the most horrific.

But due to the depraved nature of the images found in Evans' possession, they have been classified under a brand new charge of "extreme". It is the first time this charge has been used in the area. Evans, who had no previous convictions, pleaded guilty to 20 counts of possessing indecent images of children.

Hull Crown Court head how police raided Evans' home in Hardwick Street, west Hull, last July and discovering thousands of indecent images. After his computers was seized and he was released on bail, Evans went out and bought another computer. He then downloaded more indecent footage of young girls being abused.

Officers discovered the new images when they carried out another raided on his home in February. Sick images of animals were also found.

DC Adamson said: "During this case I have graded thousands of indecent images, some of which were the worst I have seen in my time working within the Public Protection Team, some including some very young victims. "During the interview Evan's attempted to blame others and shift responsibility for being in possession of the images, but in the end the evidence spoke for itself."

Judge Michael Mettyear, sitting at Hull Crown Court, sentenced Evans to 18 months imprisonment. He told Evans: "The description of the images that you possessed shows the depth of depravity some people descend to. "This was terrible, terrible conduct against such young children and you were quite clearly attracted to looking at it and you wanted to see it again and again and again."

Evans has been ordered to sign the Sex Offenders' Register for 10 years and has been given a Sexual Offences Prevention Order for 10 years. His barrister Rodney Ferm said: "He has lost his job as a taxi driver. "This is a quiet and private man who kept himself to himself. He has found prison difficult. "He is truly sorry for what he has done. He feels great regret, shame and remorse."

This is one reason why i do not think we should have access to CCTV footage in our cabs.In Dundee only the police can veiw taxi CCTV images.

well an image can be taken "in a public place", without any permission required, the inside of a vehicle used for "public hire" could also be considered a public place, plus, if it (HC or PH) is MY vehicle, surely i can fit a CCTV and put a sicker up? at least thats what my LAs R&R's say....

Well that's considerably less than what the victims of this kind of crime loose to feed the fantasies of an evil mind.

Not surprising it's not exactly a hobby you can share amongst your work mates, is it

Too short in my opinion

Should be for life as he clearly isn't going to get better. His desire was so strong that he bought a 2nd computer ffs

Sadly stationtone, society does look down upon the trade as they do about refuse operatives, toilet cleaners, and any other job that gets a negative reaction from the shallow, ameobic brained, sub human, species that exist among us.... :-|
