Quote: He has now been deported after his illegal status was discovered.
The council is now working with the UK Border Agency to check the immigration status of every worker who holds or applies for a taxi driving licence Lets hope they come to Winchester and check all the immigrants we have here!! Maybe it'll thin out the ranks somewhat!!

Maybe they ought to check them all over the country and see if any of them have a CRB. |

If they can't legally work in this country, I wonder what their insurance status would be, even if insured for hire & reward? |

Baroness Scotland was fined £5,000 for employing an illegal immigrant because she didn't check her status. Will the council get a fine as well? |

I hope that this is going to become norm around the country, god knows what past these illegal imigrants have, and yes the council or taxi company should be punished. |

All that is required is proof of identity, proof that they are here legitimately and have the right to work here and a good comprehension of the English language. I don't think they'd have any problem getting sponsors and perhaps a bond is a good idea but why so high? Are you trying to price them out of the equation? |

The same way as millions of Brits get jobs overseas. |
