Taxi driver gets tip of £250,000 A minicab driver retired from his job on Wednesday after a life-long client left him £250,000 in her will. Don Pratt said he had no idea his friend, Mary Watson, would leave him her fortune. ‘We are very grateful for her generosity. In nearly 30 years as a cabbie, this is certainly the biggest tip I’ve ever had,’ he added. The cabbie often ferried Ms Watson, who died earlier this year aged 86, from her house. ‘I knew Mary for 20 years. She was a very nice lady,’ he said. ‘One day she said to me, “When I pass on I’ll look after you”. I took it with a pinch of salt – I had no idea she was going to leave me a fortune.’ Mr Pratt said he lost touch with Ms Watson a few years ago when she moved from Newquay, Cornwall, to a care home in Northampton. But then her solicitor called to say she’d left him her whole estate which included a small house and savings worth over £250,000. The 65-year-old said that, while he was saddened by Ms Watson’s death, he planned to retire thanks to her ‘last act of generosity’. Mr Pratt, married to Gill, 63, added: ‘We want to go around England, Scotland, Wales and Ireland. ‘I’ve had a great time being a taxi driver. I’ve been all over the country delivering people. I’ll miss them.’ http://www.metro.co.uk/news/831337-taxi ... of-250-000 |

I'm sure he was saddened by her death after all who on here doesn't have regular customers that they would consider to be more like friends than just a customer ? All I can say is good luck to him £250000 may sound like a lot but if he goes on a spending spree it might not last that long |
