We've been contacted by parties considering applying for their own plates. I should also mention, they are prepared to use the Human Rights argument to force the council to grant, if faced with a refusal.

They believe our argument is correct. In that, qualified drivers should have the right of unfettered access to the tools of their trade. It all comes down to proper quality controls and the enforcement of regulation, and not a restriction placed on license numbers.

We have been told to expect further communications within the next few weeks.

Really gary,

That will be a sure fire success right enough.

Why don't you give it a rest until they get their human rights plates, we are kinda losing intrest in your nonsense.

Frank, it's not everyone that can't understand the argument. I think you've got your fear goggles on again Frank, and you just can't see the bigger picture. 8)

gary gary gary,

You once again go back to your standard reply to anyone who disagrees with you, where you say they "Fear" something.

What exactly am I in fear of ?

Change.

The possibility that CEC might one day decide that keeping restricted numbers is just not be worth all the bother?

The possibility that the Scottish government might decide that protecting the market for taxi licence holders, though in the interest of sections of the trade, may not be in the public interest?

Politicians are more interested in public opinion than they are in the opinion of a few with vested interests.
The issue is per se less important to Joe Public but Joe Public has more votes.

Only you can answer that.

The fact that you can't leave this subject alone indicates your interest. That and the fact you rarely post on any other thread.

Unless you have nothing better to do with your time, why else do you post against anything skull and jasbar say?

gusmac,

Well, as far as I can see, I have nothing to fear.
And you will find I post on most threads on this section.

I do seem to post against anything the terrible twins say, but that is because they are the ones that I disagree with.
I have, maybe about twice, agreed with something gary has said but never jimmy boy.

Surely you do not agree with them, that would be ridiculous.

I find it hard to believe that you do not realise that they are simply stupid, greedy, trouble makers.
They have said quite publicly in the past that they only want to " bring down the trade"
They post rubbish and they know it, they are simply bitter little men.

They surely laugh when someone agrees with them, because even they dont believe their drivel.

If you agree with them, perhaps you could work for their friends at ecph.
As they would be the only winners in the unlikely event that their madcap ideas found some support among those who matter.

I post on many subjects here, Frank.
You post on just the one.

If you are unconcerned and truley believe these are just bitter men with an agenda that's out of step with everyone else, then you just give creedence to their argument by constantly trying to belittle them.
You come across as desperate to maintain the status quo at any cost.

Try arguing the points instead of attacking the posters (wife beating, gay boys etc etc). That just says to me that you have no valid argument and it turns off the majority of people reading it.
