Search for top cabbie By Richard Hammond on July 5, 2010 12:00 AM Richard Hammond's Friday column The search is on for Britain's most pukka cabbie. Run by car polish-maker Turtle Wax, cabbie Don Pratt, 65, is the main judge. Don should know what makes a good cabbie - last month he was left a £250,000 tip. Before you quit your job to become a cab driver you need to know Mary Watson, the passenger who left him the money in her will as thanks for driving her to the shops for 20 years. "We want to find the UK's most deserving black cabbie," says Turtle Wax's Andrew Freeman. "And who better to launch our search than Don?" Don says: "Being a good cabbie is much more than simply ferrying passengers from A to B, in any one day you can be called upon to be a counsellor, a critic and a confidant." Entries close on Monday July 26, 2010. If you know a great cabbie, visit http://www.turtlewaxblackbox.co.uk/mostpukkablackcabbie for entry details. And the prize? The winner will receive £2,000 worth of modifications for his or her cab, a year's supply of Turtle Wax Black Box and a short city break worth £500. Two runners-up will get £250 worth of holiday vouchers plus a year's supply of Black Box. Source; http://blogs.mirror.co.uk/cars-motorbik ... abbie.html |
