Post subject:  Taxi driver ‘hospitalised by passengers’
A TAXI driver suffered head injuries after he was allegedly attacked by six local men in a lay-by off the A617 in the early hours of this morning (Friday).


The 36-year-old driver picked up the group of men from Chesterfield town centre and was attacked around 12.50am in the lay-by at Heath.

He had pulled over to call police after the men became abusive, and the group allegedly punched him several times to the head before running off.

A helicopter was used to track down the suspects which included four Shirebrook men aged 19-21, a 19-year-old man from Glapwell and another 19-year-old from Mansfield.

The taxi driver, who is from Sheffield, was hospitalised in in Chesterfield with swelling to the head.

The six men remain in custody and are being questioned by officers.

Very pleased they got the scumbags.

TBH the chances of them getting away were very good.
