Taxi driver beaten in robbery

Image

A taxi driver blacked out after two customers beat, sliced and robbed him. Now police have released images of the two men they want to speak to in connection with the assault which took place on a remote country road near Hailsham.

The driver picked up three men in Eastbourne. Having dropped one of them off in Litlington, the remaining pair asked the driver to stop as they travelled along the B2104 Ersham Road.

As he did so, the duo attacked the driver. They used some kind of weapon to cut the top of his left arm and then inflicted head injuries causing him to black out momentarily. They stole his wallet containing several hundred pounds and ran off.

The first suspect, who travelled in the front of the vehicle, is described as mixed race white/Caribbean, 25 to 35 with neck-length braided hair and wearing a 'New York' zip up hooded jacket. He kept talking about Jamaica.

The second man is white, 25 to 35, with short ginger hair that was possibly dyed, wearing a dark zip up hooded jacket. The man who was dropped off in Litlington is white, 25 to 35, dark-haired and wearing a grey Lonsdale sports jacket.

The incident took place between 9.30pm and 9.45pm on Saturday, September 18. Sussex Police are appealing for any witnesses to the attack or anyone who recognises the descriptions to contact 0845 60 70 999 quoting serial 1721 of 18/09. Or call Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.

This is shocking and I hope the culprits are caught and the driver is ok, but why do drivers keep so much money on their person :?
