At the closing of the inquiry at Dundee Sheriff Court yesterday, fiscal depute Keith Robertson said there was no clear reasoning behind this exemption.

He added: “The rules for taxi drivers being exempt from wearing a seatbelt seem to relate to a fear that they might be attacked by passengers behind them.

Exactly!!!

And the seat belt can & has been used in the past as a garrotte.

However, in a purpose built taxi with a partition that does not apply. I always use my seat belt.

They could be attacked and Garrotted just as easily with a belt hanging from the pillar....you dont need to be wearing a belt to get strangled by one.

Obviousy not you cocooned cab types....snug as bugs in a Goldfish bowl...
