Taxi driver airlifted after three-vehicle crash

7:46pm Saturday 23rd October 2010

A taxi driver was airlifted to hospital this afternoon after a three-car collision in Trowbridge.

The male taxi driver of a Rover 75 was involved in a three-vehicle crash with a Land Rover Discovery and trailer and a Volvo at the Stoney Gutter crossroads, between Hilperton and Steeple Ashton at 2.39pm.

He was airlifted to the Royal United Hospital, Bath, suffering from severe pelvic injuries, while the driver of the Discovery was taken to hospital by land ambulance. The driver of the Volvo was treated at the scene.

Police sealed off the road, which was still closed at 7pm.

Hopefully all will recover in good time. Never good to hear of these things.

BTW that has got to be one of the best names for a junction I've ever read "Stoney Gutter Crossroads", sheer class.
