Taxi driver accused of sex offences on women A TORBAY taxi driver has been charged with a number of sex offences on women. Police have revealed that Jordan Brokenshire, 28, a hackney carriage driver, of Langs Road, Paignton, has been charged with six offences against different women. Police say the allegations date back to August 2009 in Newton Abbot, with the most recent alleged offence relating to an incident in Torquay in June of this year. Police say all the offences are alleged to have occurred while Brokenshire was working as a taxi driver. He is due to attend Torquay Magistrates' Court for a hearing on November 11 to answer the accusations. Brokenshire is to face two charges of sexual offences on women over 16 years old and one sexual assault. He is also accused of three offences of causing a female over 16 years old to engage in sexual activity. Hackney carriage taxi drivers — or 'blue plates' —are licensed by Torbay Council. 'Red plates' are private hire cabs. Torbay Council says Mr Brokenshire's licence to be a taxi driver has been suspended. until the outcome of the case against him is known. The council confirmed he worked as a hackney carriage driver. A council spokesman added "As soon as we were informed by police that Mr Brokenshire was charged, his licence was suspended pending the outcome of the case." |

Now this would appear to be a correct use of Section 52 of the Road Traffic Act, 2006. From the scant details it is impossible to see if he has been to the Magistrates and commited for trial with any bail conditions. |

This excuse of a man, was the biggest cheat on the ranks of Torbay and this is probabaly only the tip of the iceberg with this guy at least! the general feeling by the local hc's is that the police are waiting for more complaints from the general public. This is the very type who ruin the trade by abusing the publics trust and stop them using taxi's and sends them running into the local red plates, who I may add had a scandal of a similar nature and the local paper reported that he was a local cabbie, rather than name the firm he worked for as they advertise heavily in the local rag! This is ALL my own opinion and I STAND BY IT!!!! |
