To be honest, we never thought this case would go forward without the council having it remitted back to the Regulatory Committee (RC) for a deemed grant.

As a consequence of the Sheriff's decision going against the council, it will be faced with the choice to grant all those remaining on their illegal Interested Parties List, (IPL) or to scrap it altogether. Although, this could spark another legal action against the council by those on the IPL, it could hardly be seen as, reasonable, under the circumstances, refusing people after waiting 20 years, on a council promise.

The problem is, if the council grant those remaining on the IPL, they would have to grant anyone and everyone who applied also.

I think the council is looking forward to pulling the plug on the back of the Sheriff's decision going against them.

De-restriction is just around the corner boys, read it and weep. :D

What IPL

Wasn't the IPL cleared at the last meeting when plates where issued?

Haven't you and your pal been here before with the whole schtick of "grant one license then it a free for all" less than a year ago and you know what, it wasn't the case

Let's see what happens tomorrow before anyone starts jumping up and down in celebration and saying I TOLD YOU SO

There are still 72 interested parties on the IPL. The council only granted 27 out of 99 on the list.

Oh and the council are fu*ed, they don't have a prayer.

The question you should be asking yourself Longshanks is, what do the council do with the 72 interested parties still waiting on the IPL?

All those on the IPL were invited to apply at the last issue. Of those who did, most, if not all, were granted. Those who didn't apply must be deemed to no longer be interested. Simple, really, like you!!!

So 72 on IPL? Nope!!

Precedent laddie. An oversubscribed issue and a fair way of deciding who gets and who don't. See the big picture, not just your wee fantasy world.

BTW, tell hardman Jumbo, I don't work nights so could he change the time and date of our "tryst." After all, it's him that wants to meet me and I am not that really interested in making any effort for him.

You mean like what happens in 70% of councils in England and Wales?

How novel. :-s

Once again you talk [edited by admin]* swannee. The list still exists. The council refused applicants who applied off the IPL but they still remain on the list. I was there. I watched it happen.

:D

Try again Swannee

Swannee, anyone who applied out with the first 27 licenses made available to those on the IPL, had their applications refused, retaining their original position on the IPL. The IPL was never scrapped, and no one lost their position as a consequence of being refused or not applying in the first place.

I know people who still retain a position on the IPL, despite anything you can dream up.

You Swannee, are shi*ing it so much you live in your own little dream world.

What a clown.

Well Jasbar, be interesting to see your SWOT analysis of the derestriction scenario.

You forget, we went through it before and those of us who saw what happened then, know what would happen now. You weren't in the trade then though.

Your arrogance is astounding. Your knowledge, non-existent. No research and no facts, other than those which support your idealistic and puerile claptrap.

No, this is not fear talking; it is experience. I have survived it once and that is more than you will, believe me. Forget your Audi, forget your house, forget your lifestyle. They'll all be gone should you get your way.

Only fools try to destroy that on which their lives depend.

Managed growth (i.e. restriction of numbers) in Edinburgh preserves the quality and standards of service, Remove that control and enter drug traffickers, illegal immigrants, tax dodgers etc. With earnings plummeting and standards disappearing there won't be a lot of decent drivers left in the trade. Look at Edinburgh's PHC - it's already happened there.

Chris, I don't know how to break this to you, but you're a fu*king ar*e. You have never formed an opinion of your own in your life. You simply lack the capacity for critical thought. I don't know if you've always been a complete tit, or maybe the Navy finished what mother nature started.

Well thats my nights sleep out the window. How can I be at peace with an opinion like that from you?

I still wonder what more than a "Cabby" you are?

Actually, I wonder that you are, a "Cabby".
