Well dont see much action on this whole subject guess most people are going to lie down and let Edinburgh Airport Dictate there own rules.

£1 drop off today £10 drop off tommorrow

They will use this as a means to getting more money whenever they feel like it.

Heres a video about the new drop off point.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HV8Js-Jkflo

send it to all your friends.

Well that was a waste of a pound. The video maker never even stopped to drop off.

Technically not...your supposed to use the short stay car park for picking up...that said, you must can pick up at the drop off or why else would they charge by the hour at such expensive prices, kind of makes you think they actually want you to use it for pick ups because of the extra cash it will generate whilst in the next breath say that the high hourly price is to deter picking up...not once have they actually said that it is for drop off only...otherwise you'd get ten minutes maximum to do so...Scammmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm!!!!

Our new drop off facility,
located on the ground fl oor of
our multi-storey car park, costs
drivers £1 for 10 minutes* to
drop off or collect passengers.

From the link you posted Blood, so apparently you can use it to pick up

Well your right i did waste a pound to video the drop off i was not going to do it with my passenger on board.

I picked up my passenger from here a few nights ago as i received a phone call from my customer telling me that the pre booked taxi bay was no longer being used and that taxis were to pick up there customers from the drop off point from now on.

Well if my passenger is ready and there ill pick up but if im going to collect my passenger from arrivals ill use the pre booked area as usual.#

i did not see any signs saying that you cant pick up at the drop off and did not see any signs saying that you cant leave your car unattended either, maybe i missed a sign somewhere.

all i know is this is just another tax added by baa edinburgh airport and it pretty disgusting that we bring them there customers and we provide a good service which baa edinburgh airport cannot provide.

The public transport network from St Andrews to Edinburgh Airport or the other way around is not viable early in the morning or after 10:30pm as there is no public transport that gets you to edinburgh airport for a 6 am flight and if you come off the plane around 10:30pm there is not enough time to get to waverly and get the last train to st andrews.

Bus And Train Services in Fife are bad at the best of times.

Did you never think to tell your passenger to bus it down the night before and stay in a local hotel and let Edinburgh's finest take them out to the airport and still be quids in?
No I thought not.

The pre booked taxi bay is in the short stay car park, the little bus shelter that sits just outside the multi storey car park.

Yes your right the machine issues no receipt i guess seen as this is the case you can put some pety cash threw your self employed account, only think that the amount is £5 a week though so if you drop off every day you will be out of pocket still.

well im not getting into a price war,im from st andrews and we arent as much as Edinburgh Taxis to the Airport however with ST ANDREWS DIRECT OR EDINBURGH DIRECT AS YOU PROBABLY KNOW THEM let me tell you about this company that works from near the airport.

ST ANDREWS DIRECT (EDINBURGH FIRM)
They Take up to Half a million pounds each year away from st andrews taxis, they offer very cheap fares to every one in st andrews.

There price is £20 per person from St Andrews to Edinburgh Airport.
(We cannot compete with this price)
(The university of St Andrews Promotes them,i guess they get back handers)

It is a share service but they will take a single passenger at a slightly higher rate.

They are not even working legally, they use non plated vechiles, private hire, private buses, but they take money off the customers,i thought if you were a travel firm it was one cash payment a day, anyway its a grey area and i wish someone would explain it more clearly.

A large cab company in Edinburgh do work for them,i wont disclose the name as it could cause all sorts of hassel and that is not my intention, but i did hear on the grape vine taht they were not going to do this anymore as there wasnt enough money in it and that the drivers had be warned about doing it,well for whoever is in charge they are still doing it your plates are very distinctive.(either the rumour is incorrect or your own people are going against you)

Fife council wont take action as they say its an edinburgh firm.
Edinburgh council wont get involved as they say they are picking up from edinburgh and when they pick up in st andrews that they are under fife councils rule, so basically none take responsibility.

They tout at the airport all the time runs are supposed to be pre booked they advertise on large signs and yes they do have some pre booked runs but when other students see the sign and havent booked they take them if they have space.

Edinburgh university welcome team lets them use the taxi desk at domestic arrivals when students are coming back theu pay 10% off the cost to edinburgh university, apparenly this desk is very exspensive to have.

Anyway there is a little about this company, and im sure if St Andrews Taxis or taxis from other plated districts came to edinburgh Airport and started to do pre booked taxis into the city centre and surrounding edinburgh areas the taxis in edinburgh would take immediate action, and this is correct.

problem we have in st andrews is that the taxi association is a joke and none of them stick together,if they stuck together st andrews direct would not exsist, st andrews direct are now well established in st andrews and take alot of work away from the taxis, but there not that safe if lazy stupid idiots of taxi drivers in st andrews reunite and remove them from the town it can be done very easily,i have no time to run this but i would offer my services to help work a service that makes st andrews direct look like a waste of time.

The horrible thing is that until someones get seriously injured or even killed this company wont have action taken against them however there is video evidence of them working illegaly, non plated vechiles, and touting at airport which is not only taking fares from st andrews taxis but also you guys that work edinburgh airport.

Well i guess that Fife Council,Edinburgh Council,Fife Police,Edinburgh Police,And BAA Edinburgh Airport will all be held liable should the worse come and there is deaths caused by this company.

I mean lets be serious lets all go work the London olympics, just set up a website take loads of bookings and work from all the major london airports,if they get away with it whats to stop others doing the same thing.
(Anyway i have no intention of doing that but just trying to explain how stupid the law is and how stupid the local police and councils are on this ongoing problem)

Anyway sorry for the long rant and slightly off topic, never thought about posting this but i guess this is a bigger issue even than the drop off fee and i know that the people that run these illegal services will be reading this and it isint going unoticed, and maybe will shed a little light on some of the bad practise that goes on at the airport that goes unchecked every day.

On the First day that it came into place their was a guy at the Pay hopper offering receipts....Never seen him since though and that pee's me off as I need a receipt for my accounts. may not be a fortune but potentially 60 or 70 drop offs a year starts to mount up...shouldnt I have a Legal right to a Receipt for anything I spend???

Same happens at Newcastle airport..no receipt...at least there there is a button to press for a receipt but no receipt comes out and even if it did it would be lower than you would could reach from the Drivers window...Dunno who thinks these things through, maybe they have a Troop of Gibbering back room Baboons that does the Brainstorming sessions to come up with such Brilliant Schemes... ](*,)

You would think so but I know for a fact that the Dartford crossing are exempt from issuing receipts. I had a right go at them once and got threatened with the police. I rang the department of transport and they confirmed that there was an exemption from issuing receipts. They told me that I would get no comeback from the tax man for claiming for the cost of the crossing. I believe that if you go over the crossing a lot that you can get a prepayment card and you do get a receipt when you top it up.
