Post subject:  Edinburgh Social Work contract
City and CRT have had the existing contract extended until September 2011. This will give CRT time to build their fleet up to the proposed 600 and PHC time to get their drivers through the Disclosure Scotland. Both companies will then be in a position to put in their individual tenders. Unfortunately the contract will be worthless because of the huge discount required to gain it. You would think that the PHC tender will be at least a 30% discount. Can CRT better that? Will the members accept such a discount? What other reason has CRT got to increase their fleet to 600? Are they buying out ComCab? Or are they trying to ram it up City after the failed merger/takeover.

Central currently have 424 cabs so are you saying that they will take in another 176 cabs before September 2011 to have 600? Somehow i do not think that will happen, are they going to reduce the 'buy in radio price' to incentivise cabs? Where are these cabs supposed to be coming from? City? ComCab? Street cars? I do not think the members would be at all happy if this scenario was actually reality!!!!!
Is this Centrals Plan B?
Where do you get your info and is it reliable?

If I understand this correctly, and I may well not, this very thing happened here with the PH comanies and it worked. We went from about 40+ companies to 8. We know have 2 large companies, 3 medium and 3 small. We only have one small HC company and the rest of them work with PH circuit radios. I think that's how to absorb your competition :wink:

There is a finite number of taxis, Edinburgh has approximately 1400 cabs. While City and Central number around 400 mobiles each, ComCab is perhaps 200-300 strong, the remainder is street cars, and a lot of them don't want to work within a company. That doesn't leave a lot left over assuming your competition is not going to stand idly by and do nothing.

All of this is a smoke screen. The truth is, both companies are losing out to Ph, with the contraction in the economy forcing down their existing work. This is an expand or die scenario for CRT, and we know the boys on the committee don't want to end up back driving taxis for a living.

The trick is, expanding faster than your losses by absorbing or knocking out the competition in the process.

btw ive been in crt for 5 years,radio cabs,for 2,com cabs 3x with differant motors totaling 5 years and a street cab for the remaining 5 years .

and another thing you are in the perfect position as an owner to know that your being telt sheeite by the committees :D :D
