Reminds me of a similar story a few years ago when one of our drivers was in trouble, within 2 minutes there must have been 15 cars there helping him out. When the coppers turned up they said, "where the hell have all you lot sprung from"? He couldn't believe we got there before them.

like the guy who rang 999 to report a possible intruder in his garden

"we are very busy and will attend when we have an officer available, stay inside and lock the doors" came the reply so he said "its ok, ill have a look outside, ive got a shotgun"

very very soon 3 police cars, the helicopter and an armed response unit arrived and found the intruder, the home-owner came to the door with no weapon, and the copper said "I thought you said you had a shotgun?" to which he replied "and i thought you said you were busy?"

You say they're vermin, but what would you do if your next door neighbour parked HIS CAR on YOUR PRIVATE DRIVE?

Because if he did & you called the police, there would be nothing the police could do about it; it trespass, a civil offence.

We had an ar*ehole like that for nine months. He had parked on neighbour's drives indiscriminantly on ocassions when he had visitors & his drive was full.

One elderly neighbour had to get an injunction against him & that cost her a lot of money.

The extortion part is to be a criminal offence.

But I believe wheel clamping may well continue, with fines being regulated.

How else will you be able to control parking on private land.

A hotel or pub in a city centre, . . . cars parked there all day whilst their occupants go shopping?

Good idea this ban on clampers for cars parked on PRIVATE property?

I don't think so!!

Allow the clampers, but control the level of fines I say!!

To do that I need planning permission for my drive to double as a car park; I wouldn't get planning approval!!

Anyone ever heard of restrictive covenants in the title deeds on modern estate?

You can't even have a fence up on our estate to separate land at the front of the houses, let alone gates!!

I call them vermin because thats exactly what they are.

If you are wronged by people parking on your property you have access to the civil courts. It is not right that process of law can be prejudged by clamping.

Clampers are no better than muggers
