If there is allegedly not sufficient work to go around with 576 taxis, how does keeping the numbers at 576 actually help?

What's the point of this attempt to restrict?

The Number wouldn't stay at 576, the number would be defined by a survey and natural wastage would eventually bring the number down the surveyed figure.
The last survey came back with a figure of 487 but agreed even that could be excessive but couldn't define a figure below 487 until that number had been reached and since the last survey the population of Dundee has fallen from 160,000 to around 132,000 so even the figure of 487 will be lower.

Quality.

And which of the 576 is gonna fall by the wayside, given that plate s will accrue a value and they will want to hold onto them to realise that value.

Now this may be by outright sale, or if that is not possible then sale under the counter. If that's not possible then through surrogate ownership, subcontracting the licence.

Now, you may say this couldn't or wouldn't happen, but we all know that it would.

Dundee council are gonna end up with a bigger legal mess than Edinburgh.

Quality.

Now tell me where I've got this wrong?

Better still, give us all a list of the 99 souls who are going to voluntarily give up their licence?

The majority of licenses in Dundee are not in a corporate name and can't even be transferred to your spouse so if I kick the bucket tomorrow then my licence would be taken out of service once my estate is wound up

This would eradicate anyone volunteering to give his or her licence.

So it will come down to the survival of the fittest but at least you will know it could only improve and can't get any worse.

That's the wrong question!!

The question should be;

What's the point of explaining it to Jasbar, Skull or the EGT, they haven't a clue!!

Edinburgh, plate "values" started as a consequence of a similar premise. The reality is somewhat different. Ignorance, I believe, is the key to scam.

Jog on ...
