An attacker jumped into a taxi and stabbed to death a passenger in the back seat - then asked the driver to take them to the police.
On arrival at the station, officers called an ambulance after seeing a man lying in the back of the car bleeding heavily.
Paramedics were unable to save the victim, who had been stabbed viciously in the stomach, and he died at the scene.

Vicious attack: A man has been arrested on suspicion of murdering a man in a taxi in Slough
A 43-year-old man was being interviewed by detectives as part of a murder investigation.
The fatal stabbing took place as the victim was sitting in the taxi in Slough, Berkshire, last night around 10pm.

Witnesses said the taxi had pulled up outside a conference centre in Stoke Poges Lane, with the victim in the back.
A bystander, who asked not to be named, said: 'Another man suddenly ran towards the taxi, opened the door and stabbed the man who was sitting inside.

'Then the attacker got in the taxi along with the body and apparently told the driver not to bother taking them to the hospital because the man was already dead.
'He said ''take us to the police station''.'
Thames Valley Police confirmed that the death was being treated as murder.
A spokesman said: ''The major crime team from Thames Valley Police is investigating the killing of a man who arrived at Slough Police Station in Windsor Road in a taxi.
'An ambulance was called but unfortunately he was declared dead before he reached hospital.
'An area at the police station has been sealed off for forensic examination, along with an area of Stoke Poges Lane.
'A 43-year-old man attended Slough Police Station around the same time and was arrested in connection with the man's death. He remains in custody.
'The victim has not yet been formally identified, although his family has been informed. His age has not yet been confirmed. A post mortem examination is expected to take place later today to establish the exact cause of his death.'
'The investigation is in its early stages. However, detectives can confirm they are not looking for anyone else in connection with the incident at this stage.'
A source said that the two men, both black, were known to each other. It is believed they were both from Slough.
Other witnesses said there had been a confrontation between the two men and that one had tried to flee from the other.
A local shopkeeper, who asked not to be named, said: 'One man was trying to run away from the other one.
'A black taxi was flagged down and both men jumped in.
'They were arguing and one of the men then pulled out a knife and did the stabbing. There was blood over the seat and on the pavement as the door was still open.
'The taxi driver, who I think was a Sikh and had been on his way home at the time, then panicked and took the men to the police station.
'I've also heard there might have been another car which was involved and it was following the taxi when it all happened.'
The stabbing took place just 100 yards from Slough Community School and opposite Baylis House - a four-star hotel and restaurant, which also houses a large conference centre.
Traffic was diverted from the area until police had completed their investigation.
Residents said they were extremely shocked by the vicious stabbing.
Annita Baid, 48, who lives nearby, said: 'It's shocking to think this has happened on our doorstep.
'Around here we have had problems with drugs and prostitution but that seemed to have sorted itself out.
'I took my dogs out for a walk at about 10.30pm and saw all the police and the street cordoned off.'
