Slough urinating private-hire driver given penalty points
The driver was caught urinating in Kenilworth Close on 2 July A private-hire driver has been given penalty points by a Berkshire council after being caught on camera urinating in a Slough road. The driver, who has not been named, admitted the offence and was given six points on his private hire licence. A Slough council spokesman said the driver had "apologised profusely". But Colin Davey, who lives in Kenilworth Close where the offence happened, said he had been "promised" more serious action by the council. Mr Davey first photographed cab drivers urinating outside his home more than a year ago. 'Suspended or revoked' A letter from the council to Mr Davey in August 2010 stated that it would recommend any drivers caught urinating in the close would have their licence suspended or revoked". The 60-year-old said the council's decision to issue six penalty points instead had been "disappointing". "This has not taken in to account the feelings of the residents who have to witness this disgusting behaviour," he said. Under current Slough Council policy, a cab driver can clock up 12 points in a year before being referred to the licensing team. Council licensing manager Mick Sims said: "The driver apologised to the council profusely, and as there had not been any complaints since last year and as the police have not taken any action on this occasion, we took the decision to issue the driver with the six penalty points." He added that "more serious action" would be taken if the same driver continued his previous behaviour. source: http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-england-berkshire-14294011 |

Not so I believe for a Taxi driver, provided he does so on a rear wheel of the Taxi and keeps one hand on the vehicle...and also where possible to enlist the assistance of a constable to shield him from public view with his cape or helmet...or is this all now urban myth? To be honest I would hesitate in this less I filled his helmet!

There was a law that allowed a metroplolitain(london) taxi driver to wee up his wheel if shielded by a police officer using his cape. |

No myth, that old law actualy saved a bus drivers job a while back. Off side wheel for carriage drivers to pee against, no cop required. carriage includes buses and taxis. |

Any idea what "old law" was used? Imagine the local tyre fitters to be wearing latex soon! |

Quote: At one time in the UK, it was legal for a man to urinate in public, so long as it occurred on the rear wheel of his vehicle and he had his right hand on the vehicle. The laws allowing this were the Hackney Carriage Laws, which were repealed in 1976.

The bus driver must have had at least one very long arm to put one hand on the roof - if it was a double-decker it must have been very, very long (his arm that is).
