Always predicted a double dip. It was a nap. During the great recession Roosevelt dug us all out of it by investing public works. Keynsian economics. The cretins in our government have done jhe opposite. At a time when the economy needs a boost, needs people to spend, it has sucked money out of the economy, making things worse. A double dip certainty. I know of one couple who have had their family credit stopped. Nice one for the government who by sliding the bar to the left, will report a saving of x amount. But this couple will no longer be paying the childminder to watch the kid. The female will have to stop work. That's less money spent, less tax generated. SNAFU. The tories and the libdem tories and the labour tories and the fascist snp have destroyed our nation by supporting greedy capitalists and bankers and shechting on the workers to pay for their cock-ups. And in a shrinking economy they still won't allow workers their rights to compete by driving their own taxi if they wish. This government and this council are intent on forcing us to bear this pain by holding both of our arms behind our backs. Perhaps the worst aspect was when Galloway said last night that in a Parliamentary democracy the political class - yes he used the term political class - are not there as our delegates. They are our representatives don't you know. We can tell them what we want them to do for us, we can ask them to represent our interests, but if they exercise their judgment and decide not to, well that's how a Parliamentary democracy works. And if we don't like it we can vote them out. Problem is that politicians can filter out individual needs knowing that collectively they are not going to cause them to be thrown out. They prevail on the divide and rule basis. They shaft individuals and still get elected, because the rest of the bewildered herd electorate don't care about anyone but themselves. And by the time they come to realise the system doesn't work for them either its too late. THat is Thatcher's legacy. That's what the political class delivers. It perpetuates the political class. Anyone smell a rat here? |
