Cabbie convicted of two sex assualts29 August 2012 A taxi driver from Machynlleth has been convicted of two sexual assaults on passengers. David Nigel Roberts, from Glendunn, Felingerrig, was also found guilty of a common assault against a woman.
Roberts, 64, had opted for trial in magistrates court after pleading not guilty to the offences, which took place between 3 June and 24 December 2011.
The sexual assault charges both related to the intentional touching of women over 16, who cannot be named. The touching was sexual and done without consent, Aberystwyth magistrates heard last week.
Roberts worked for Mach Taxis until his licence was suspended by Powys County Council in February after a passenger made a complaint to the police.
The council has confirmed that he has not renewed his licence since then, which has to be done on an annual basis and includes a Criminal Records Bureau check, and that it has now expired. Sentencing by Aberystwyth magistrates was adjourned until 12 September.
