Post subject:  How the rest of us felt let down

On 7/7 our particular PH company continued to work as normal. Senior managers and directors all manned cars or phones and our rates did not alter. I for one, was disgusted when listening to LBC to learn of Adams Cars in Shepherds Bush charging an additional £100 per drop. Now that the dust has settled, I wonder how much truth there was it in the report. Does anyone know if Adams actually did that dispicable thing?
The Hackneys were hailed as the heros of the day, and I have no axe to grind with them, but there were major PH operators behaving in exactly the same manner as them; doing trips for free, sitting in idle traffic for literally hours without a meter ticking away etc, as depicted by a Lewis Day driver who called in to the phone-in. I'd love to know if Adam's business has been affected by adverse publicity.

The thing is that it's very easy for the iffy elements of the cab trade to tar all LPH by the same brush. :sad:

But it says more about their insecurities, than it does of the legitimate LPH.

That aside, if, and only if, that firm tucked people up, then we should all unite and condemn them for it. [-X

Of course at peaktime periods when punters want cabs, they do on occasion say to the driver....take me, I'll pay you double!

How many of these instances can be attributed to that, only for the customer to suffer short term memory loss later :shock:

I thought I'd help by expanding the conversation content......A Mr Khan was on the phones at Adams at the time the DJ Daisy Sampson called the company and he admitted that his drivers had to drive into a 'war zone' and if the customer didnt like the price they were quoted they could go elsewhere. The trip quoted was a trip normally priced at £100 and there were now three extra drops and the charge quoted was £100 per extra drop making the total charge £400. Ofcourse, the reaction to Mr Khan was that in fact due to the circumstances in London, customers did not have the choice to go elsewhere and as such, they were being extorted.

And did'nt Mr Khan come across so well. :-|

The trip that was discussed that day, to refresh your memory, was from Shepards Bush to Islington.

£100 normal price? I'm going into minicabbing then if thats the normal fare for 5 miles.

A war zone? :lol:

Three of the incidents were underground and one was a bus in Tavistock square.

I would imagine a few of their drivers have probably come from real war zones in Africa.

So really it just shows them to be robbing tossers, who will no doubt not give a sheite about any bad publicity.

And this from the man who nearly 'turned tail' until Bob Oddy told all the black cabbies how busy they would be?

And why did they stop all buses in London if things were so safe?

For anyone that might be interested. I was in and out of the 'War zone' most of the morning. As those of you that can remember, the trafic was awfull. I managed to get a final job out of town after lunch that took me in a homeward direction, So I went home.
Of course my takings for that day were up a bit. All my jobs were charged as per the meter or less.

No Bob Oddy appealed to drivers to come in and work, no mention of being a lucrative day, long fares, etc.

So why say something now in response to my post that you didn't say 10 hours ago when you replied initially??

Anyway at the time you said:

So 'huge demand' meant it wasn't busy #-o

You also said at the time 'it was busy'.

More recently you said you made the same as usual for fewer hours, so why deny it was busy?
