Is there a working Taxi Driver in Bournmouth who could help out here? Last Friday night a mate of mine has a son who's in the army, he's based in Blanford, he went out last Friday night into Bournmouth with his army mates. They got a cab on the way back who quoted them £75, on the way home he was driving like a lunatic through the lanes, he hit a puddle which was across the road and flooded the engine. The engine gave up so the driver phoned one of his mates to carry on the journey. When he turned up he wanted another £75 to take them to their destination, total £140. He's got pictures of the plate and car, it's a hackney licensed by Bournmouth Council. |

Put the photo up on TDO, and I am sure you will hear from him sooner rather than later...

Dont wish to be picky but 75 x 2 is £150. And can you honestly see them getting any money back as the council will just wash there hands of it as its a civil matter. dont like the trade to be brought into disrepute but think your wasting your time |

Chances are the Council will make the first driver cough-up, the £75.00 |

The licencing office should be able to provide detail of the driver so they can issue a civil claim for the return of their money. Simple answer is don't drive fast through flood water. |

I don't know if its in the englandshire rules, but in ours, it states if for any reason you cannot complete a hire, you must not charge for that hire, or demand payment |

It happened to me once when my fan-belt snapped. I had to hand the cash to the other driver for him to complete the journey on my behalf. The guy in this case is just trying it on. How can you keep the money for a job you never completed and then force the customer to pay twice for being delivered to his destination? It's a no brainer, pay up or face the consequences. Nigdge2, I would put up a telephone number on this thread and give him a few days to make contact, to return the money or report it to the cab office and let them handle it. |

I am not Bournemouth but am near. I also know a lot of people in the town. The 3 biggest firms are United, Streamline Warrens and Star Cars. If the car is on a circuit the company name will be on the rear doors. Also it is sometime possible to identify the firm by the style of the roof box. Happy to try to help. I do think the LO would be keen to hear about this. PM the picture if you like. |
