Confusing hackney carriages with private hire in some cases, me thinks.

I noticed there was no mention that it was against the law for hackneys to charge more, I don't know the same law applies to PH

Bollocks!! The vehicles used by the taxi/Ph trade to transfer wheelchair passengers are not fit for purpose. They are simply a cheap alternative to a dedicated fleet of properly adapted wheelchair-accessible vehicles. #-o

Oh and once again, you are prepared to accept any old sh*t. #-o

What is it with you lot, are you just stupid or what? #-o #-o #-o #-o

The government has passed the problem,blame and the expense on to you. #-o #-o #-o #-o #-o #-o And it's still not a fu*king solution to the problem. #-o #-o #-o #-o

Basically because a lot do not buy one out of "Choice", it is foisted upon them. Down here it was a condition of getting a plate, i.e purchase a recognised WAV.........and we will let you work.

So, you see it as your responsibility to go to the time and expense of humping some elephant on wheels up a ramp into the back of your taxi?

A number of years back the Health and Safety Executive carried out a risk assessment at my request. On the suitability of Taxis to transport wheelchairs and the bottom line was, any wheelchair user over six and a half stones in weight, presents a high risk the driver.

Honestly... #-o #-o #-o #-o #-o You need your heads looked at. #-o #-o #-o #-o #-o

When one considers that all Bristol taxis are WAVs then it's no surprise the PH firm has very few.

Felt sorry for the LO as there is very little more he can do.

Personally I would legislate to make all PH operators with more than, say 20 vehicles, to have a minimum % of WAVs. Start with 15%.

They can either buy them themselves or offer reduced radio rents to folks with WAVs.

Here's a radical idea, force the government to subsidise vehicles that are properly adapted to do the job, instead of bearing the cost for a cobbled together heap of sh*te that's not fit for purpose. :-|

Oh and I am sure, organisations supporting the disabled would back such a move. :-|
