Post subject:  Bogus minicab driver first to be convicted of insurance frau
TfL has successfully prosecuted a bogus minicab driver for nine separate private hire offences.

Kabir Raja was caught illegally plying for hire by TfL's Taxi and Private Hire Compliance teams, he is the first person to be charged by TfL for driving without insurance and he also failed to have in place the mandatory hire and reward insurance.

Mr.Raja pleaded guilty to all offences on 12th February at the Westminster Magistrates Court and was fined a total of £700 and was ordered to pay £300 towards legal costs incurred. Additionally he was given 6 penalty points and banned from driving any mechanically propelled vehicle for 6 months.

TfL have had a total of 12 successful convictions for illegally plying for hire and other recent offences in recent months with many more cases currently waiting court dates.
