Taxi driver prosecuted for smoking in his cab in Hereford

A 59-YEAR-old taxi driver has been prosecuted after being caught smoking in his cab.

Tony Hodson, of Barrs Court Road, Hereford, was spotted lighting up in his taxi in Edgar Street last August by an off-duty council officer.

At Hereford Magistrates' Court Hodson, who is a taxi driver licensed by Herefordshire Council, pleaded guilty to smoking in a smoke free place.

Hodson represented himself and in court only said that he thought the costs were excessive.

He was given a six month conditional discharge and was required to pay £250 court costs and a £15 victim surcharge.

No where near as excessive as the cost of smoking to your lunges. :sad:
