Taxi Fares ?

We see a lot of debates on Taxi fares particularly with Uber lowering its fares to customers.
The driver is the ultimate loser as he has to work more for less...has no protection by way of
''minimum wages'' etc.
So, what is the charge rate per mile that would keep drivers happy and also be acceptable to Taxi users ?

£2.00 a mile.

What about flagfall? Is the £2.00 per mile for all times of the day and bank holidays?

£3.50 flag, T2 for Bank Holidays @ £4.50 flag and £2.50 a mile.

T1, £4 flagdrop to include 1st mile (because 90% of my fares go less than a mile !), £2 per mile after that.

T2, same flagdrop but for 3/4 mile and £2.50 each mile thereafter.

Xmas/new year £5 flagdrop+£2.50 every mile.

Down here we are £2.80 flag, with a very small run in, and £2.20 a mile.

For the average day time rate I think that's par.

At night I think the rate should reflect what is needed to ensure drivers work those unsocial hours.
