Illegal taxi driver who didn't even have a driving licence is fined



A DRIVER who used his vehicle for hire without a private hire driver’s or private hire vehicle licence has been ordered to pay more than £750 in fines, costs and charges.

Mr Sean Sanpher, 47, of Birstwith Road, Harrogate, pleaded guilty at Harrogate Magistrates Court to two charges of driving a vehicle for hire without a driver’s licence and without a vehicle licence, contrary to Local Government legislation.

Cllr John Ennis, chair of Harrogate Borough Council’s licensing committee, said the case, and others it had prosecuted, sent out a clear message that the authority would not tolerate unlicensed vehicles of drivers putting the travelling public at risk.
