New taxi rules to protect vulnerable passengers All taxis in Rotherham will have to have security cameras fitted from July, the council has announced. The new rules aim to protect vulnerable passengers from potential abuse following the town's grooming scandal. Yes, pass the buck to Taxi Drivers...They are easy prey... What about the social workers and Police not to mention council workers who Ignored the please of the young girls being abused ? Why is there no answer as to why the whole council had to resign ? Why do we hear that people found guilty of sex offences can sill get licences to ferry passengers ? Yes, Taxi drivers were involved but not the only group to be blamed by any means. |

Questions must be asked of the Council,who is going to fund the buying and installation cost and be in control of the system. Persons are deemed to be who hold a license at the present time "fit and proper person" , is it the Council view they have now become not"fit and proper person" to hold a license? Where does licensing laws state they can compel a TAXI to have a camera system installed? Are the persons making these decisions "fit and proper person" I doubt not. |
