Pregnant cat loses 3 kittens after taxi driver refused to take her carer to the vet

Rescue cat Polly's emergency C section was delayed by an hour after a cab left her and her carer stranded at the side of the road at 2am

The Cats Protection Glasgow Branch has complained about Polly’s ordeal

A pregnant cat almost died during labour and lost three kittens after a taxi driver refused to give her frantic carer a lift to the vet.

Only one of rescue cat Polly's babies could be saved when a cab left her stranded - delaying her emergency C section by an hour.

The Cats Protection Glasgow Branch has complained about Polly’s ordeal.

They said in an angry Facebook post: “Sadly only one kitten survived...there could possibly have been more but a black taxi cab REFUSED to take our fosterer a 5min journey to the Vet school with a cat....so it was an hour before she could get there...we are totally disgusted at this.”

Polly’s carer flagged down a black cab at 2am on Monday but the driver refused to take her when he saw the cat inside her crate.

The tearful fosterer explained that the cat was gravely ill, but the driver left them at the road side, reports the Daily Record.

Polly was only saved when another volunteer stepped in to take them on the four-minute journey.

Vets were able to save one black kitten, Grace.

The charity wrote on Facebook: “Polly is tired..but doing well feeding her only remaining kitten, little Grace...and we will guarantee that they will both get the best of care now...RIP to the 3 little angels we lost today..”

The identity of the cab driver is still unknown.

as long as the cat is in a box it isn't normally a problem BUT what was she doing trying to flag taxis down at 2am to get to the vets

Because no one would pick her up.

Should have tried the SSPCA..Why blame it on the Taxi trade, I'm assuming she had or her fosterer had access to a phone, geeze a cat with a carer, she had facebook access, besides why not blame the VET, they come out in emergencies or did they not want to spend that much money..

It galls me that such people blame everyone but them selves for their woes.

Hell, the Cat protection lot could have mobilised quicker and got one of their people out of bed at 2am if they were really that concerned.

agree, but when one is giving birth on your back seat with blood & pi$$ everywhere it is  stated it was 5 mins from the vets yet waited a hour to flag a cab down, ffs you couldn't make it up , was it a hearing/guide cat?  feel sorry for the cat though , the owners shouldn't be allowed to keep animals ffs , why do people just think they can do /take anything in a cab & the driver has to obey? if he had took them there would have been a post on here with the title " cat owner refuses to pay for valet of taxi"!! i went on a job while private hire in my vectra sri once, they said can you reverse on the drive please& drop your seats, so i did , they then proceeded to heave a marble fireplace along the passage of there house  , i said ya fooking kidding aint ya ? she said its only going around the corner, i just said not in this car it aint , she then said she was gonna complain to the council
