Drunk Emma Hetherington-Fantastic damaged a taxi while trying to fight her friend

The Dewsbury woman will take almost two years to pay off the £550 awarded to the taxi driver

A drunk woman caused damage to a taxi when she fell out with a fellow passenger and tried to fight with her.

But Emma Hetherington-Fantastic now has a sobering two-year reminder of the attack in the early hours of March 17.

Kirklees magistrates ordered her to pay £550 compensation to the cabbie - but at £25 a month this will take nearly two years to pay off.

Hetherington-Fantastic and her two friends were picked up by taxi driver Adeel Akhtar at just before 2am at McDonald’s in Huddersfield town centre.

Hetherington-Fantastic sat in the back of the eight-seater vehicle, with her male friend beside her and female friend sat in the front next to the driver.

Vanessa Jones, prosecuting, said: “During the journey there was a fallout between Miss Hetherington-Fantastic and her friend. This resulted in the defendant climbing over the middle row of seats to try and fight with the female in the front.”

As the 24-year-old reached across she knocked the taxi’s rear view mirror, causing it to break off.

The driver stopped near Huddersfield Road in Mirfield and called police.

Hetherington-Fantastic remained in the vehicle and said: “If I’m going to get arrested I might as well do some damage.”

She reached over and took hold of the device for booking fares and threw it on the ground.

Police attended and arrested Hetherington-Fantastic, of Frances Road in Dewsbury, as she walked away from the taxi.

While she was in police custody she ripped up the Police Codes of Practice book.

Mrs Jones added that Mr Akhtar couldn’t complete his shift following the damage to his car.

Magistrates were told that Hetherington-Fantastic, who admitted two charges of criminal damage, had been out drinking and had only a vague recollection of the incident.

They told her to pay £550 compensation to Mr Akhtar but made no order for costs.

This is why they should get vouchers to be spent on food only. Why the fuck should they get money to go out and get leathered?
