Fake Facebook account posts abusive comments in attempt to discredit taxi firmA FAKE Facebook account has been posting messages to try and discredit a Colchester taxi firm.
Hawaii Five-O, based in Port Lane, Colchester, has been plagued by messages on the spoof account offering free taxis for a number of years.
The spoof account has also started sending abusive messages to customers again, including foul language, claiming to be from the company.
Taxi manager Victoria Fish has contacted Essex Police and Trading Standards at Essex County Council.
She said: “This has been going on since 2013. It had gone quiet but on Sunday started up again.
“We have more than 100 cars and everyone could be affected.
“It is offensive and it is horrible.”
Links to a member of staff not involved have also been posted on the spoof site.
Ms Fish said Facebook has been contacted repeatedly to ask them to take the site down but it still appears.
The firm is also considering taking civil action against the site’s creator.
On its official account,
www.facebook.com/Hawaii-taxis-287340431453813, the taxi firm posted: “The language and content of this page is disgusting and we want to reassure our loyal customers that we do not operate or approve of this page.”
