Taxi Driver Online

I have just taken delivery of my shiny new eurobus i am impressed. I am so glad i didn't go down the doblo road they are getting cut to ribbons up here. People are commenting that after just one ride in them they say i am not getting in one of those again.
They said they rattled and that they didn't feel to safe..but i must say that i suppose its only a few comments and they will be people in favour of them.
in my opinion i don't think they will last the distance i think they will have probs further down the line.. But its only in my opinion what do you guys think....

I think if you can afford not to, then bypass the Fiat thing.

But if it's a choice between the Fiat thing, and driving for someone else, then go for it.

I agree bud i'm not knocking the fiat but i have heard stories about them not being to reliable but i do agree if you drive for someone why not put one on not that expensive so give it a try and if the council are going to give us 1500 even better but i will stick by my eurobus at least for five years...

at least one of the older doblos have been on for two years and is probably financed over three years so you will get your money out of them,ill probably go for a eurobus i think once there are enough of them the public will get used to them and enter them at ease,

I agree scot i think the better option is the eurobus and the more that go on the public will get used to them on the other hand though with a doblo it's a different story once a fish van always a fish van mate. I wish you luck bud i think you have made the right decision.

We had the chance to purchase one of them Fiat Doblos, took it on a test drive, no thank you.

What did you think about it mate what put you off. I must admit i did think about one in the begining but just with what a lot of boys were saying it really put me off it. I think a little down the line those who bought fiats will regret it .

In a nutshell to small and not up to the job.

Now who does that remind me of?

Fiat, is a history in itself. And that is why I wouldnt personally fancy one. But, they are well cheap. At the end of the day, compare how many miles one would get from the FIAT, devide the cost by those miles. Then do the same for a MERC or whatever else you fancy. The answer is so simple really.

Anyway. What is a EuroBus?

I think that as with any car, it the way ya drive them. My mate got his doblo 3 yrs ago and it still going strong. Handling aint all that, but if you aint using it for a racing car, not much of a problem

For the same sort of money, i think i'll be going for the citreon berlingo, but these can be awkward for the oldies to close the rear doors i been told?

Well, I still think the Merc is the cheapest, cos you will still get £8,000 back for it, 5 years down the line, even with a lot of mileage on the clock.

8 grand, from who?
I have had 5 mercs, but last year I bought a Doblo as a back up and its far more popular with the w/c customers, the current merc will be the last!!! The running cost per mile, mpg, servicing, parts etc is no comparison, the Fiat wins hands down. Even if I throw it away at three years its capital cost is still better than the merc. 8 grand at 5 years is fantasy for a second hand taxi even on low mileage. Merc saloons are the best cars in the world, but the commercial stuff aint up to that standard, they are built in Spain no Stuttgard.

Should you perchance care to look in PHM, or any of the other magazines, you will see that 5-year old Mercs with high mileage are currently selling at around £8,000.

The last Merc we sold, was 6-years old with 480,000 Km on the clock and still made £5,000.

Never had a Doblo so cannot comment on them to any great degree, but am surprised they cost much less to service. Service parts for a Merc V-. are £54. Occasional brake pads. Clutch every 60-80,000. .
