I am getting sick of going to a 2 car job only to be told it's alright they all got in my EUROBUS it is really getting to a lot of taxi drivers you guys driving the eurobus's are getting really unpopular it won't be long before someones temper explodes out there. They come on with their wav's not expecting people to even want to get in them and now everyone is phoning for 5 or 6 seater total crap. I'm telling you it will cause trouble in dundee this.

It is annoying, but can't your office arrange for the 6/7/8 seater to arrive second, about 5 mins later than the saloon?

Get the office to ask the number of passengers when they take the booking. Can your dispatch system recognise saloon/mpv and allocate accordingly.

i sympathise with what your saying if the driver had a two car message then he can radio in and ask how long for the other vehicle and maybe sit around the corner, but if he turns up for six people not knowing that it was a two car job then thats different, if the driver turned up first knowing it was a two car job and said im only letting four people in he could end up in front of the council regarding his license its the public who get to choose,if trouble does start the council will have two choices let the wavs put on saloons and open the town to saloons or make all hacks wavs i know what my moneys on...

What is your solution,all wavs

some of our drivers are thinking this over too. get another saloon or go for a MPV.
right now if you have 6 punters phoning for cars we'll send 2 cars. lets say for arguments sake its a £5 fare, so for the 6 punters its cost them £10 to get in to town.
now if you turn up in a 6 seater your still only going to get the one £5 for taking all 6. you cant charge more when you got all 6 seats filled. add the facts that you pay more to buy the thing in the first place, you pay more for insurance and you get less MPG. why bother getting a 6 seater?
(by the way im talking saloon Vs MPV not PB WAV's)

Why can't you charge more?

If you work as a PH, get your firm to charge fare and a half for 6+ passengers. It will still work out cheaper than two cars.

And if you work as a HC, then get the council to amend the tariff. As with the PH, it will be cheaper for the punters in the end.

you actually get 20 pence per person for the extra customers after the first customer so someone with 6 people would get 40 pence more which doesnt nearly justify putting one on,the only reason i have one is it was the only way to get a hack, the difference in money is benefited by cutomers, a couple i pick up regulary usually pay six pound to go to town on a saturday night to meet two other couples from the same scheme, this saturday i picked all six up and with the extra one pound (five passengers at 20 pence)i got seven pound which worked out at one pound sixteen per person, the couple between them had to fork out two pounds thirty a big drop from six pounds ,every saturday they will now want a six seater, but during the week when the woman goes to the bingo any cab will do so it may turn out that this is a saturday night only thing ,i had a very good saturday but so did all hacks ,last night i made the same as everybody else, my advice is if your thinking of putting one on wait a few weeks talk to the drivers of wavs and find out if its worthwile if it does turn out to be a satuday night thing then it may not be worth while as any car makes money on saturdays, maybe someone can find out how many six seaters were called for on saturday and compare it with the total job count....

one of our guys did that a while ago. fiest time he had all 6 seats filled so puts the meter on to rate 2 (time & half). then got pulled in to the office the following monday and got an ear full off the boss as the punters rang to complain.
so thats why they are all thinking why bother getting a 6 seater...
