Uber tells customers up front what they’ll be paying, and the premium on the fare goes directly to the company, not to the driver

so the customer pays more but the driver gets the same as if it had been a lower fare #-o is that legal or will drivers be forced to sign a new contract making it legal ?

Another nail in the self-employed driver status of Über drivers if this system is used in the UK.

Perfectly legal.

Uber don't insist on anyone taking any of their bookings.

Ah but it is back to the question of VAT. If UBER are trying to be an agent for the drivers, which means that they don't have to account for VAT on the whole fare then the driver must receive the full fare and pay his agency fees from that. If UBER want to charge more and not pas on the extra then they are a principle and must account for VAT on the full fare.

I totally agree.

Which is why Uber will be f***ed big time by the upcoming VAT court case.
