A Birmingham taxi driver had his licence suspended after police discovered his vehicle had half a gear stick!

The private hire taxi driver was stopped in Washwood Heath on Thursday lunchtime.

With the gearbox in an unroadworthy condition and the wing mirror held together with what appears to be plastic.

Bham Taxi&Ph Police tweeted: “We’ve had to suspend this one until a supplementary MOT has been completed. Can’t think why!?”

Officers were backed up by Birmingham City Council’s Private Hire, Hackney Carriage, Enforcement and Liaison officer who suspended his licence.

he vehicle is being sent to have another supplementary MOT test.

West Midlands Police said once it has passed the MOT, it will be taken back to licensing to have the suspension lifted.

a tad harsh as the gearbox was working fine I presume but the wing mirror probably clinched it
