Can a council legally force you to change your meter tariffs if there is a price increase, as you would be charging less than the maximum permitted if you did not??????????

I think some say you can, and some say you can't - I don't think it's in the legislation, so each council has their own position on it.

But either way, there's nothing to stop you charging less than what's on the meter.

I think some, maybe most, councils insist that taxi meters are set at the current tariff. Not quite sure how that would stand up in court. :-k

Maybe for phone work it might be worth offerring a discount off the meter. Nine times out of ten I suspect the punters will make it up anyway.
