Not much out of the ordinary here, but headline a bit misleading. Read the article and it seems that the 'incorrect licences' just meant having no badge with them. Several Dundee taxis put out of service by cops over incorrect licences https://www.eveningtelegraph.co.uk/fp/s ... -licences/ ![]() Image: Evening Telegraph Several city taxi drivers had their vehicles put out of service by police after they failed to provide the correct licence to inspecting officers. More than 60 taxi drivers had their vehicles checked by police on the first day of licensing initiative Operation Respectful on Wednesday. A total of 24 minor infringements were found, ranging from vehicle defects to not being in possession of the required taxi badge – which resulted in the taxis being put off-service. Operation Respectful will be carried out across Tayside in the run-up to Christmas, reminding key licencees including taxi drivers, pub landlords and off-licence owners of their responsibilities. Police Sergeant Ryan MacDonald said: “The Divisional Licensing Team, along with our partners including HM Revenue and Customs, Trading Standards, Home Office Immigration Enforcement and Licensing Standards Officers from the local authorities, will be providing a high visibility presence over the next six weeks. “We will also be encouraging members of the public to look after their friends and family as they celebrate the festivities. “We want everyone to enjoy themselves at this time of year, but keep in mind your own safety and the safety of others.” |

Quote: A total of 24 minor infringements were found, ranging from vehicle defects to not being in possession of the required taxi badge – which resulted in the taxis being put off-service. Suspect this simply means they didn't have their badge with them, rather than being unlicensed drivers. Of course, it could be either/or, but not wholly clear from the article. |

most drivers don't seem to bother about their badge it's either lying around loose in the car or at home or they have a relatives badge in the car whilst they learn on the job before applying and taking the easy peasy local knowledge test. As for enforcement never in a million years they would sooner sit in an office looking for someone putting a wrong date on a form
