Not the biggest trade news ever, and photos don't show that much, but makes a change from broken windows, I suppose :-|

And suspect specifically targeted, rather than just act of random/wanton vandalism :?

(It's presumably an Edinburgh-plated HC, although Bonnyrigg is a few miles out of the city.)

Shock and confusion after taxi vandalised with ‘paint stripper’ on residential Midlothian street

'It's so lucky nobody got hurt' - the dangerous chemical was thrown near a local children's club

Both the fire brigade and police were in attendance at Dobbie's Road, Bonnyrigg last night after a taxi parked on the church end of the residential street was covered in what is suspected to either paint stripper or brake fluid.

Louise Allan, the owner of the taxi, took to the Facebook group 'Residents Info Forum: Bonnyrigg and Lasswade' to ask fellow residents to get in touch in they knew anything about the incident:

"Has anyone seen anything or does anyone have any information? The fire brigade are coming to do a clean up of the pavement and road so that people or animals aren't burned by the liquid. If anyone has CCTV can they contact me please."

An update of the post today raised concerns around the fact that the crime was committed in broad daylight just feet away from where children were going into a Brownies Club for the evening.

In the same update, it would appeared that there is a potential suspect identified:

"More than one person has reported seeing a man about early 20’s, blonde hair with tattoos, running toward the taxi holding and shaking something. He was allegedly standing at the corner of Pryde Terrace and Dobbie’s Road with 2 others. It’s so lucky nobody got hurt."

If you have seen the described or have any further information re the incident contact Midlothian Police on 101.

Defo more than a random attack.
