Another one of these from Test Valley. Quite a lot of money, but might have helped if he'd turned up to court

A TAXI driver licensed in Test Valley has been fined for failing to provide his records.

Allan Richardson, of Colenzo Drive, Andover, was asked to produce his records of the bookings he had taken, but failed to do so, which breached the conditions of his license.

Drivers of private hire vehicles are required to keep records and they also have to prove all journeys have been pre-booked to ensure the safety of passengers.

Richardson failed to produce the records when requested by the borough council with the matter progressing to court on three occasions.

On May 10, this year, the 65-year-old failed to attend court and was found guilty in his absence.

He was fined £450, ordered to pay a £45 victim surcharge and £1,500 in costs, a total of £1,995.

Corporate portfolio holder, Councillor Tracey Preston, said: “We are determined to do all we can to make sure passengers trust the taxi companies they are using and keeping a log of your records is one of the key ways this is done.

“We take all cases such as this incredibly seriously and our message is simple in that if you are asked to produce your records, you must do so.”

Taking into account how easy it is to forge, or simply add at a later date, bookings, it seems this fella is a tad thick.

And that's why the costs were £1,500.

You can if they offer them to you.
