Glasgow Taxi drivers have slammed the growing danger from electric bikes in the city.

The cabbies have called for action against the delivery bikes, which they say are being driven 'recklessly' through the city centre.

It comes as concern has been growing in the city some riders can be seen driving against the flow of traffic and mounting pavements while wearing black clothing which restrict visibility - creating a danger to pedestrians and drivers alike.

I dread them at work - am all in favour of anyone making a living but have seen them take massive risks in traffic. My insurance is already too expensive.

I think those views are shared by almost every other taxi and PH driver in the UK.

Not just motorists who can be at risk either:

A Scottish cycling charity is backing calls for more responsible use of e-bikes after a cyclist claimed he was mown down by a food delivery driver.

Ben Williams was left "terrified" after suffering a serious injury during a collision in Glasgow last year. He was cycling home on a two-lane cycle path when he was hit by an electric bike ridden by a food delivery courier travelling the wrong way. Cycling Scotland said delivery companies should take responsibility.

Mr Williams, a 24-year-old PhD student, fell from his bike and hit the kerb after the crash. He had to be treated in hospital for a torn kidney.

I took the insurance hit this month - private car policy jumped from 255 to 447, so +75%. Tried two comparison sites and could barely get any saving unless I reduced the level of cover. At least the hackney insurance was early summer - it actually came down a bit.
