Firefighters extinguished a taxi blaze in a quiet residential street this morning.

Video has captured the moment firefighters tackled the taxi fire in Byron Street, Hove at around 10am.

The bonnet of the private hire Skoda was charred and left open after crews used hoses and wore specialist breathing equipment to extinguish the fire.

Water was sprayed into the engine bay while smoke rose into the sky. The road was closed while firefighters battled the blaze, and there are no reports of injuries.
