More taxis set for Stirling as residents asked where new rank city centre rank should be placedhttps://www.dailyrecord.co.uk/news/loca ... s-33713696Residents across Stirling are being asked to share their views on plans for a new taxi rank in the city centre with more cabbies set to take to the road.
Go Forth Stirling say that, following a survey that identified unmet demand for taxis in the Stirling area, Stirling Council’s Planning and Regulation Panel lifted the cap on the number of taxis permitted to apply for hire in Stirling city centre.
As a result, the council is working to identify the most suitable location for an additional taxi rank to cater for the increase in taxis operating in the area.
The option currently being explored is to locate it on Port Street, Stirling.
There is a loading bay on the west side of Port Street. It is proposed that this loading bay continues to operate for loading/unloading Monday to Saturday between 8am and 6pm, but that it operates as a taxi rank between 6pm and 8am.
